Needs a second example to disambiguate; it currently requires guessing what the OP is thinking. I’ll giess that it’s the number of squares, so 14.
But for eg: it could be the number of vertices with 3 or more edges, which means the answer is 12.

Emlyn O’Regan interesting! For some reason my brain went to «number of intersections of at least 3 lines», which means the second puzzle would be 12.

Where are the method engineers – you goofs. If you Googled the solution then in your own words describe your deduction., please.

14 kvadrater i figuren nederst. En stor, 9 små och sen 4 som består av 4 små. Men det är som några skriver bara en av lösningarna. Men den jag såg först så då svarar jag det.

I would go with 14, the number of squares you can form from the image. I do agree with the ambiguity of the puzzle here.

I am going to go out on a limb as well. I say wood. Through me off a bit, but very clever.

14, 12 or 10 are all viable. You can’t decide a pattern based on only two samples.

If I’m right about the gist of it, 14.

Lars Fosdal, how many squares can you find it is that simple, 1st example shows four squares set in an order where the is formed by the outer walls creating the 5th. So that suggest the answer will be the same only the more squares added the more you will find.
LikerLiker
I think we are all squares for solving it. So at least add one.
